More inky goodness
After what seems like a very long time, I've finally felt well enough to open my birthday present and investigate.
I was over the moon to open a printer and sublimation inks from Ben on my birthday. So for those of you who don't know, sublimation ink allows me to use special items to infuse the ink into the surface of them. I created some mugs in February using pre-inked papers. Although these pre-inked papers are great fun and you can make some awesome projects, they are also limiting. Having a printer to print my own designs gives me so much more flexibility.
I've used photo's and purchasable designs for my first tests.
I remembered I had some sublimation coasters which I had ready to make designs with the Infusible Ink sheets, so got them out and put some designs on them. The wedding picture was the first then I took some images I found, these are not my designs and not for re-sale. Only for me to experiment and learn printing techniques.
My second though was for my brothers birthday which had already past while I wasn't well, so I realised I could create a mug for him along with his gift. I printed his Boxer and was pleased with how it turned out. The colours come out so bright and the mug has a great glossy finish.
My final mess around, was to try and combine a design which you can purchase for use and insert a photo into the blank area design for a photo. I used the Cricut Design Space program to line up the design and photo to make this cringey mug ready for Ben to take to work. I'm not sure he will and I can't blame him.
