Colouring
The upside to your teenager having covid is you have your evenings back. No running to ir picking up from clubs.
I used the Hydrangea Haven stamp set and 4 different colouring techniques to see the effect they gave. I love them all and all have their purpose and the right time to use them. I really enjoy using the Stampin Blends and the shading effects you can get and the colour blending.
Next up are the soft Pastels and a water painter. I rubbed the pastel on a piece of scrap card to lay down some colour and used this an my palette to pick the colour up and add to my image. I'm not a confident pastel user as I don't like the sound of the pastel against the card, the effect you achieve is good though. There is only 1 green colour available in the pastel so you get more colour by adding more colour from your palette. You can see I was rushing a bit and maybe haven't stayed in the lines, I'll admit it and not say my kids did the colouring :)
Another water colour technique is to use the water colour pencils. You can use them in a similar way to the pastels and rub the pencil on a ceramic plate and then pick the colour up with a water painter and water colour your image. The other way to use the pencils is to colour your image directly and use the Blending Pen to move the colour in the way you want on the image. You can use a water painter too, but be careful not to water log your card if not using water colour paper.
The final technique I used was the blending brushes, there are one of my favourite purchases. You can make some many different effects using ink pads and blending brushes. I will share some more projects using blending brushes soon. This whimsical version of a hydrangea is a great way to remove harsh edges and boundaries from your image.
